More and more people are embracing the nature of listening to podcasts these days that range from various genres from politics to humour. It is hard to pinpoint which podcasts to recommend as there are so many out there to choose from according to the listener’s preference and mood at the time too. Here, we compiled 10 of the ones that stood out most to us from a guy reading his father’s erotic story to a NASA experiment documentation of six volunteers living in a fake planet.
My Dad Wrote a Porno
The title says it all. Jamie Morton’s dad wrote an erotic story and he is reading it along with his friends James Cooper and Alice Levine. Besides the hilarious and bonker stories his dad nicknamed Rocky Flinstone writes about in his “pavilion,” it is the commentaries by Cooper and Levine that makes it super fun to listen to. Between really awkward mentions of the female anatomy to hysterical laughs at the ridiculous scenarios in My Dad Wrote a Porno starring Belinda Blumenthal. This NSFW podcast about a parent’s fantasy is too good to miss out on.
2 Dope Queens
Hosted by the sassy Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams, 2 Dope Queens is a lot of things. Besides being known as a podcast, it is also a live show and a HBO limited series with various guests. Phoebe and Jessica talk about everything funny from race to sex, which is spontaneous and very real. The success of 2 Dope Queens also birthed spinoff shows such as Sooo Many White Guys and Late Night Whenever.

Imagine the Siri or Alexa we know are controlled by real humans in a physical customer service environment. That is what Sandra is about. Voiced by actors Kristin Wiig, Alia Shawkat and Ethan Hawke, this fiction series surrounds the life of Helen played by Shawkat, from her interview to be responsible for answering the demands and queries by Sandra users. Fans of this show can also expect a TV series being developed at the moment and we can’t wait!
Heavyweight
This charming podcast hosted by Jonathan Goldstein takes on questions from the past and tries to resolve them for friends or people around him. There’s a sense of humour to his attempt to help people realise why they were kicked out from sorority to finding the person who wrote the letters in a found suitcase. Heavyweight will make listeners think about the things they could do to solve questions they may have. Follow Goldstein’s attempt to reach out to people and the result of each case, as well as his funny phone conversation with his sister to open up each episode with.
The Habitat
This podcast follows six volunteers on a real NASA experiment as they live through a fake planet Mars located in Hawaii for one year. Six regular folks are forced to live as pretend astronauts in the most realistic environment to prepare them for the real thing. Almost like a reality show of survival, but there are nowhere to go for The Habitat cast. Listen to their daily lives in the isolated dome as they share their experience through audio diaries for this very brave experiment.
The Hilarious World of Depression
As part of the Make It OK campaign, this podcast focuses on interviews with well-known people who have mental illness. Host John Moe speaks to different guests namely celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern, actress Rachel Bloom and musician Aimee Mann. The Hilarious World of Depression helps people realise that depression shouldn’t be a lonely thing and ways to deal with it through these candid, funny and unpredictable stories by people we wouldn’t expect but also relatable.

This fictional thriller podcast features the characters voiced by actors Catherine Keener, Oscar Isaac, David Schwimmer, Amy Sedaris, and David Cross. Homecoming resembles the old radio stories with amazing performances by the different characters through telephone calls and conversations. It will leave you wanting more to unfold the stories through this innovative podcast series. Homecoming is so good that it is also in the works to become a TV show on its own too.
Anna Faris is Unqualified
Funny actress Anna Faris is the host of this funny podcast that features famous guest friends to talk about almost everything from their life to relationships. Anna Faris is Unqualified will make you cry so hard with guest Tiffany Haddish and get great advice from Dax Shepard. Sometimes it may not seem like she knows what she is doing because the format is very laid-back as if she is hanging out with a friend with the back and forth banters that makes it so charming.
How Did This Get Made?
Hosted by Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael and Jason Mantzoukas, this podcast discusses some of the bad films that have ever been released. Besides making jokes and trying to make sense of these movies, some of the episodes are recorded in front of a live audience with Q&A session for a different experience. Released every two weeks, during the off week, they would announce next week’s movie so the listeners would be up to date when they are discussing it on a new How Did This Get Made? episode.
