Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience

The Van Gogh: Immersive Experience breathes new life into the works of the renowned 19th-century Dutch painter. Taking place in major cities simultaneously around the world including London and New York, the 20,000 square-foot light and sound installation features two-story projections of the artist’s most known paintings like The Starry Night.
Besides offering a 360-degree digital experience of Vincent Van Gogh’s works, the exhibit also chronicles the artist’s life, with a one-of-a-kind virtual reality interactive experience. Visitors can enjoy a 10-minute journey through a day in the life of the artist, where they can walk alongside the painter and discover the inspiration behind eight of his major pieces.

Bert Stern’s The Last Sitting with Marilyn Monroe

Shot by legendary photographer Bert Stern, The Last Sitting is a series of intimate photographs with Hollywood icon, Marilyn Monroe. After arriving five hours late to Hotel Bel-Air, the actress’s 12-hour long photoshoot, which was also followed by two additional photo sessions with the American photographer, yielded a total of 2,571 glamorous portraits.
Completely uninhibited, Monroe is captured in scarves, pink silk, birdcage veils and a black velour gown by Christian Dior. Considered to be one of the most beloved female screen legends in the world, the photo series would be the public’s last glimpse into her life, before her unfortunate death six weeks later.

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Opens in Los Angeles

Opening its doors to the public this fall, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is the first of its kind and is set to be the largest museum in North America dedicated to film and film culture. Located in Los Angeles, California, the seven-story, 300,000-square-foot space explores the history, culture, sciences, players and social impact of the movie-making world.
The museum’s core exhibition, Stories of Cinema, offers celebratory, critical and personal perspectives on the industry both past and present. Meanwhile, its temporary exhibition focuses on the life and works of acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki and his animation company, Studio Ghibli. Visitors can also immerse themselves in the Oscar Experience, a simulation which allows the public to accept an Academy Award on the stage of the famous Dolby Theatre.

A Retrospective, Art at 45 Park Lane

The group exhibition taking place at 45 Park Lane aims to feature emerging artists and foster young talent in the artworld. A Retrospective features four brilliant creatives including urban pop artist Lhouette, multidisciplinary artist Benjamin Shine, London-based abstract artist Ewan David Eason and Venezulan figurative artist Raul Castillo. From intricate maps gilded with precious metals, to configurations of bold shapes and colours that offer political commentary, expect dynamic and large-scale pieces.

Curtis Holder, Art at 45 Park Lane

Based in London, Curtis Holder is an artist whose works focus on the human form and how individuals connect with one another. Using graphite and coloured pencils, he creates layers upon layers of spontaneous lines to emphasise emotions, ultimately aiming to translate people’s feelings and moods onto paper and tell their stories.
A winner of the 2020 Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year, a national televised British art competition that features judges from across Europe, Holder’s debut solo exhibition takes place at 45 Park Lane. Expect magical and delicate portraits, each with their own unique style and visual language.

Jeff Koons: Lost in America

Curated by Italian contemporary art critic Massimiliano Gioni, the exhibition showcases the career of one of the best-known postmodern artists to date, Jeff Koons. It is the artist’s first exhibition in the Gulf region and is also presented as part of the Qatar-United States 2021 Year of Culture, an annual celebration of cultural and artistic exchange between the two countries.
Lost in America is a portrait of American culture as seen by Koons, which traces back to his childhood, growing up in suburban Pennsylvania. It will feature more than 60 artworks drawn by the artist during his four-decade long career. The exhibit will also include autobiographical text by the artist that explains the influence and memories behind his works, and display some of his most famous pieces including The New, Celebration and Popeye.

James R. Hedges IV Collection of Andy Warhol Photography

Slated to arrive early next year to the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles is the largest amassed photography collection of renowned pop-artist Andy Warhol. American entrepreneur and art collector James R. Hedges IV has been a prolific collector of Warhol’s work since his death in 1987, and has acquired hundreds of polaroids, photo booth strips, screen tests, silver gelatin prints and more by the artist.
