Beyoncé and Jay-Z dropped a surprise joint album

This Beyoncé and Jay-Z collaboration project has been long in speculation, and it feels like the perfect end to what seems like a trilogy after they individually released what they have to say on the Lemonade and 4:44 albums. Known as the most powerful couple in music, they laid out all the speculations of their relationship that was addressed on their last solo albums through Everything is Love.
It all started with Jay-Z’s infidelity addressed by Beyoncé’s on Lemonade in 2016, before he gave his side of the story in 4:44 the following year. Everything is Love is a follow-up and presumably the end of this chapter to let us know that they are doing okay, hence the title.
The title is dedicated more than just about themselves, but their children, skin colour and society. Beyoncé and Jay-Z showed us that despite the big bump in their marriage, they have worked things out and just want to move forward with their recommitted marriage.
Known for their surprise element, this 9-tracks album was announced after closing their On the Run II tour in London. The Carters showed the lead single “Apeshit” on the big screen that was shot at world's largest art museum The Louvre in Paris. Trust Beyoncé and Jay-Z to have the power to film this Ricky Saiz-directed music video at this historical venue.
As the lead single, The Carters boast about their rich status and rightfully so. Jay-Z even calls out the Grammys for 4:44 for being a leading nominee but did not win any awards featuring inputs from Migos. The album continues to impress us with Beyoncé switching up the famous hook from “Still D.R.E.” by Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre on “713” to borrowing The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Juicy” hook on “Heard About Us.’
Everything is Love felt more like a Beyoncé featuring Jay-Z album and the world is okay with it. Overall, this album showcased what love is, as well as how important it is to forgive and move on especially on the last two tracks “Lovehappy” and “Black Effect.”
Although it is only 38 minutes long, Everything is Love is much needed. From their first collaboration on “03 Bonnie & Clyde” to “Drunk in Love,” the world can’t deny the powerful music chemistry between Beyoncé and Jay-Z, no matter the theme. They just took it to the next level with this project and it will go down in history as one of the greatest love stories ever told.
