KEF X Monocle 24: The Power Of Sound With Nainita Desai

A multi-faceted composer who has scored films, television and video games, Nainita Desai is best known for her documentary work, including music for the Oscar-nominated ‘For Sama’ and an upcoming, Sundance-winning documentary called ‘The Reason I Jump’.
With a training in maths and sound design, Desai’s approach to film composing is remarkably unconventional, such as capturing the experiences of autistic teenagers in ‘The Reason I Jump’ with the use of water-filled clarinets and collaborating with autistic cellists. Hear her speak on the collaborative art form of film scoring, and how she stays true to mentor Peter Gabriel’s “magic of performance”.
"That's something I learnt from Peter Gabriel when I was working as his assistant...one of his mottos - and it's become something that's important to me as well - is: "it's all about capturing the magic of performance."
