KEF X Monocle 24: The Power Of Sound With Roderick Cox

As a young Black conductor, Roderick Cox is a prominent face of change within the classical music establishment. Since graduating from Northwestern University in 2011, the award-winning American conductor has held prestigious roles as associate conductor of the Minnesota Orchestra for three seasons before relocating to Berlin, where he is now based. His Roderick Cox Music Initiative champions diversity in the industry by providing scholarships for young musicians of colour from underrepresented backgrounds. Tune in to this episode to hear the musical works that drew Cox into conducting, what it feels like to the podium and lead an orchestra, and the power that music has to teach us about other cultures.
"Sound continues to teach us about one another and our cultures, and I think it's the best diplomacy between nations and people. Through music we communicate differently...and I think I'm a better citizen because of it"
